manuals

Training manuals should never be regarded as the conservative option or the poor relation of work in new media.

On the contrary, well-written, creatively executed paper-based materials constitute an extremely effective medium for communicating key messages. And in the right hands, the medium offers unlimited possibilities for creating innovative solutions and inspiring presentations.

The training manual is often an effective mechanism for pulling a mixed media solution together.

Carlsberg-Tetley
Customer Services Manual

Widespread Customer Service skills are a key ingredient in every modern organisation's success.

Working closely with our client, we designed a set of short workshops, ensuring that everybody with a customer facing role has the skills to behave professionally and understands the importance of getting things right every time.

Percy Dalton's Famous Peanut Company
Transferring skills to a new workforce

When Percy Dalton's Famous Peanut Company moved to their new factory after over 70 years of working from Central London, they needed to get their plant up and running as quickly as possible to ensure that they did not lose valuable production or the goodwill of their valued customers.

We worked with some of their most experienced production operators to create training materials which captured skills developed over many years, ensuring that these could be passed on efficiently to the new workforce.

Walkers
Sensory evaluation - trainers' guide

Our original commission was to produce a trainers' manual for inhouse trainers, a workbook for trainees and a PowerPoint presentation to simplify and standardise delivery.

The success of the training concepts we developed led to us being asked to develop posters and a multimedia presentation to spread the message through other departments.

Minerva SA: Explaining the technology

Following a number of successful assignments for Cussons UK and Cussons International in the UK, Multimedia Design was asked to produce training materials for one of their sister companies - also part of the Paterson Zochonis Group - based just outside Athens.

We designed manuals which functioned successfully as both ISO documentation and as NVQ training materials.

Fork Lift Truck training

Where regulations need to be satisfied, training not only needs to be done, but needs to be seen to be done.

In this project, we worked with trainers from a number of sites, pulling together the best elements of each of their courses into one coherent package. This package was then given to the company's other trainers to pilot and comment on.

Additional material was added and the feedback from the finished programme - which consists of PowerPoint presentations and trainers' scripts - has been excellent.

Greater London Authority
Responding to London Documentation system

When the Greater London Authority upgraded the documentation system which records all the correspondence addressed to the Mayor of London, Multimedia Design was asked to develop a suite of training materials to support their in-house trainers.

We not only developed the definitive guide to the system but went on to produce a short, carefully targetted leaflet for each type of user outlining the changes from the previous system.

To complete the package, we also created a set of PowerPoint presentations to support the authority's in-house trainers.

Remploy
Supply-chain management

Remploy introduced a Baan supply-chain management system into its business a number of years ago. Multimedia Design were asked to create training material to ensure that the system was fully optimised at the Radcliffe Household and Toiletries site.
